Williemae “Wendy” Coleman-Gunn, 54 of Benton Harbor departed this life June 12, 2019, at Select Specialty Hospital, Battle Creek.
Wendy was born December 23, 1964, to the union of Raymond and Williemae Nelson-Coleman in Blytheville, Ark. In 1974, the Colman family relocated to Benton Harbor. Wendy showed a love for singing and a love for the church. She was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and later, she received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. With that beautiful voice
Wendy was called upon often to sing songs like, “I want to be at the meeting”, “Heaven”, “Give me my flowers while I yet live” and “What God has for me it is for me.” She was a dedicated worker at Imperial Printing Corp., Berrien General Hospital, InterCare, and the Benton Harbor Housing Commission. Wendy graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1983. In 1985, Wendy married John Swanagan and in 1988 she married the love of her life, Curtis Gunn and to that union were born 7 children.
Wendy leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 30 years, Curtis Gunn; daughters, Christina and Mariah; sons, Demetrius, Shaquille, Christian, Jalin and Nicholas; sister, Ida Bullocks; brothers, Arthur (Mary) Bullocks, John Jones and Willie Partee; grandson, Shaquille Gunn Jr.; Goddaughter, Katie Razor; special nieces, Sara Bullocks, Lynnell Bullocks and Monajha Hill; mother-in-law, Audrey Gunn; special friends, Starlet Jackson, Patsy Oliver, Charlotte Roper and Rhonda Posey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Wendy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Rosemary Thomas, and Beatrice Rogers; brothers, Fred Bullocks, Eddie Jones, Minor Coleman, and Robert Coleman.
