William Earl Calhoun Sr., 73 of Benton Harbor slipped quietly away to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Corewell Health South Hospital St. Joseph, MI.
Earl, as he was affectionately known, was born October 1, 1949, in South Haven, MI to the union of Anderson Calhoun and Essie Wilson Calhoun. He graduated from Covert High School and retired from Robert Bosch Corp, St. Joseph, MI. Earl was a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. James O. Childs. He was a member of the male chorus, and he also served on the senior usher board until his health started to decline.
Earl is survived by his loving, dedicated wife, Helen Calhoun; brother, Frank (Lois) Calhoun of Benton Harbor; granddaughters, Shaneka Outlaw Calhoun of Benton Harbor, MI, and Courtney Lewis of Atlanta, GA; grandson Marcus Lewis, of North Hollywood, CA; great-grandchildren, Zaira, William III, Cortaze, Tavarius, and Autumn all of Benton Harbor, MI; daughter-in-law, Sanquinella Calhoun of Indianapolis IN; Goddaughter, Fonzetta “Tammy” Rufus, of Phoenix, AZ; special children, Charles and Renee Gentry, of Benton Harbor, MI; special cousins, George Wilson, of Benton Harbor, MI and Vera Harris, of Kalamazoo, MI; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Essie Calhoun; his loving son, William Earl Calhoun Jr.; and brother, John Calhoun.
