Willa Virginia (Vee) Thigpen, age 85 of Spring Lake, North Carolina passed away at home on Monday, April 18, 2022. Willa was born in Dexter, MO on September 26, 1936, to the union of the late Willie and Augusta Carter.
Willa worked with youths at a center until she retired. She was a member of the Airborne Artillery Chapel in Fort Bragg, North Carolina under the leadership of Chaplain Daniel Werko where she served on the usher board until her health started failing.
Willa leaves to mourn her husband, James Thigpen Jr of Spring Lake, North Carolina. 1 daughter, Patricia Blakey of Benton Harbor. 1 uncle Albert (Sonya) Franklin of Minneapolis, Minnesota. and 1 brother, Thomas (Mary) Carter of Dallas, Texas. 8 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Longtime friends Lucille Dixon, Patricia McQueen, and Laura Shawl.
Willa was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Augusta Carter, sister Mary Cobb, and daughter Pam Hull.
