Wallace Young Obituary

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil: my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalms 23

Wallace T. Young was born December 28, 1951, to the union of Rufus Young and Nellie Mae Young of Benton Harbor, Michigan. Wallace received his education in the Benton Harbor area school system. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School with the class of 1970. From there he worked for Kmart in Benton Harbor and Kmart in Muskegon, Michigan. Later, he worked for the Benton Harbor area school as a Custodian for 20-plus years, until he retired. He was the 7th child of all his brothers and sisters.

Wallace never had any children of his own. He was fond of two that I knew of, and they were Shay and Mercedes. Wallace loved everybody. He just loved people and would help anyone that needed help. He attended Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. before going to Royalton Nursing Home, where he passed. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior while he was there.
After he accepted Christ, he fell in love with the song, “Don’t let the devil ride,” for he was free at last.

He leaves to cherish his memories his oldest sister, Marie Silby of Windson, CO. Rufus, and Patricia Young of Benton Harbor, MI. Curtis of Douglasville, GA. Charles and Bessie of Benton Harbor, MI. Herman and Debria of Benton Harbor, MI.  Janet Young of Benton Harbor, MI, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Wallace was preceded in death by his father Rufus Young, Sr., and Mother Nellie Young, his oldest sister Dorothy Prophet, Denver, CO
