Vordas Edward Wright Sr. was born on May 23rd, 1965, in Tangipohoa Parish, Louisiana to the late Supt. Willie Wright Sr and Martha Wright. He was the third of seven children of this union.
Vordas Sr. departed this earth on July 25th. 2024 in Grand Rapids, Mi in the presence of his daughters. He suffered from a severe stroke that he succumbed to after eight days of fighting to recover.
Eddie was a truck driver by profession and a drummer by passion. He started drumming on his mother’s pots and pans as a toddler, and followed his father’s footsteps as a long-haul truck driver. His C.B. handle was “SideKick”.
He lived the majority of his life in Eau Claire and Benton Harbor Areas.
He was a member of his late grandfather Elder Elijah Wright Sr Ministry and after his demise he was in membership with his father the late Supt. Willie Wright Sr.
He later moved his membership to Reed Temple C.O.G.I.C. where he became a minister in the late 1990s under the leadership of the late Elder L.C. Reed and continued with the current leader Administrator Philemon Reed.
Vordas graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1983 and recently earned his Associates Degree in Science of Accounting with high honors in January 2023. He was one week away from receiving his Masters degree in Accounting at the time of his demise.
Vordas, affectionately called “Vodie” loved to laugh and joke and was his own self claimed comic.
Vordas was the father of five children Demarcus (Roxanne) Gilbert, Danyette (Lashun) Williams, and Jasmine (Steven) McCoy. Two sons who proceeded him in death, Vordas Wright Jr. and Brandon Wright. He is truely loved by his family. He was married to Sheila Maxwell for 34 years.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his beloved grandchildren, Danaveon, Zyren, Desmond, Zaria, Jaydon, Amari, Antwon and Aiden. Two bonus grandchildren Alexis and Kamron. They loved their “Poppi”, His mother Martha Wright; His Siblings; sisters, Joyce Fisher and Pamela Bridwell; his brothers, Willie Wright Jr. , Ponail Wright, Lance (Darlene) Wright, and Christopher(Cheyenne) Wright.
He has an entire family of loved ones who will cherish all their precious memories of him, which includes Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, 2 special bonus daughters, brothers and sisters in law. The love extends to a host of church members from here in Benton Harbor to Eau Claire and Kalamazoo MI. Houston, Texas and Popular Bluff MO. Classmates, friends and Associates.
Vordas is preceded in death by many loved ones, including grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and many many more. Most recently his Father Supt Willie Wright Sr.
