Vickie Whitehead Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Vickie Lynn Whitehead, who departed this life on May 26, 2026, at the age of 64, while receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit at Corewell Health in St. Joseph, Michigan. Though her passing was sudden, she was surrounded by love during her final moments, with her devoted husband, John Whitehead, and beloved daughter, Ericka Whitehead, faithfully by her side.

Born on January 7, 1962, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Vickie lived a life defined by love, compassion, hard work, and devotion to her family. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her beautiful smile could brighten any room, and her warm, heartfelt hugs became one of the many things people loved most about her.

Vickie found joy in the beauty of everyday life. She loved gardening, relaxing on the beach, searching for beach glass along the shoreline, rescuing animals, and transforming spaces through her talent for interior decorating. She took immense pride in maintaining a beautiful home and was known for her exceptional housekeeping skills and attention to detail.

Throughout her career, Vickie dedicated many years of loyal service to the Kuhnlein family and also worked for several local hotels. She was admired for her strong work ethic, dependability, and caring nature. Whether at work, at home, or among friends, she gave her all and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Family was the center of Vickie's world. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with those she loved and creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Vickie is lovingly survived by her husband, John Whitehead; her daughter, Ericka Whitehead; her beloved grandchildren, Jaden Ory, Alexus Ory, and Jaxon Ory; her sister, Sandra Nugent; as well as many cherished in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Alva Mullen; her father, Jack Mullen; her brother, Gayle Jackson; and all those who welcomed her with open arms into eternal peace.

Although her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her, her legacy of kindness, generosity, strength, and unconditional love will continue to live on. She will be remembered in every blooming garden, every sunny day at the beach, every treasured piece of beach glass discovered along the shore, every rescued animal given a second chance, and every warm embrace shared among family and friends.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Vickie's love and light remain woven into the lives of all who knew her. Her beautiful smile, infectious warmth, unwavering dedication to her family, and legendary hugs are gifts that will never fade from memory.

While she will be deeply missed, she will never be forgotten. Her love lives on in the hearts of her husband, daughter, grandchildren, family, friends, and all whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
