In life we have pleasures with our love ones, we have sorrows and joy but thank God for the memories death cannot destroy.
Again, death has invaded the ranks of the Washington family, carrying away our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend-Verdell Washington Sr.
Verdell Washington Sr. son of the late Ollie Mae Washington and Robert Corperwood was born March 31, 1967, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Verdell was affectionately known by family and friends as “Shorty V”.
Verdell attended Chicago Public Schools. He graduated from Wendell Phillips High School-Chicago, IL. “Shorty V” was a very kindhearted man that would give anyone the shirt off his back.
Verdell worked as a Leather-maker. He enjoyed making custom Bible cases, keychains, and waist belts made of authentic leather for his family and friends.
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven:; Ecclesiastes 3:1 On Sunday, January 3, 2021, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ received the soul of our beloved Verdell Washington Sr. Memories of his life will forever live in the hearts of his children, Keyatta Washington, Shaneka Washington, Verdell Washington Jr. and DeVal (Courtney) Washington; six grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary Washington and Phillis Washington; two brothers, Arlandar (Regina) Washington and Tommy Washington; three aunts, Dorothy Washington, Sylvia Tibbs, and Anneice Washington; a special love one, Tammy Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Verdell was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Willie Mays, and his grandparents, Willie Sr. and Elvie Washington.
