Tyrone Joseph Hitchcock, affectionately known as "June”, was born on March 5, 1949, in Benton Harbor, Michigan to the late Eulie Atcher and Gulbranson Hitchcock. On June 5, 2022, he was peacefully called home to glory, surrounded by his loving family.
Tyrone was the eldest of 8 siblings. He attended Benton Harbor Area Schools and enlisted in the United States Army. He often shared stories that included growing up during the Civil Rights Era, his time in the Army during the Vietnam War, and fond memories of his grandmother Ma Mae. Tyrone married the love of his life, his late wife, Tammy (Haire) Hitchcock. Tyrone was previously employed at Whirlpool Corporation, JVIS, and Twin Cities Area Transportation Authority.
Tyrone accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. Kenneth Gavin at Second Baptist Church. Tyrone’s “turnaround” was at Solid Rock Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Kerwin Hudson.
Tyrone played significant roles in the lives of many people where he was known as Paw Paw, DeDe, Uncle DeDe, and DeDe Sharp. Being a kind and dependable Paw Paw was of the utmost importance to Tyrone. He certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his grand and great-grandchildren. He was known for his immaculate style and charismatic demeanor. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family, being outdoors, shopping and eating sweets. Tyrone was a true Pisces, he enjoyed just sitting, looking at the water, and fishing.
Tyrone leaves to cherish his memories: his children Lynette Moore, Sharron Pullium, Tyrone (TiShonda) Hitchcock Jr., Tallie Hitchcock, Raffeal (Freddie) McGee, and Tywanna Partee; his stepchildren Tony Haire, Lana Dudley, and Lorell Bracey; his grandchildren Keith Dewberry, Johnathon Moore, Airielle Jackson, Brandi Ellis, Tonjai Hitchcock, Tanganiyka Dudley, Ailyah Moore, Aleisha Moore, Daquanis Partee, Daquan Halliburton, Da'Mya Halliburton, Davontae Partee, Willie Peete Jr., and Nelson McGee; his sisters Lois Atcher, Kathy Atcher-Brooks, Shelia Atcher, and Tina Atcher-Harmon; his brother Robert Atcher; his special nieces Sheena Atcher & Tenisha Jones; great friends Harold & Joyce Faye Hampton; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He had a special bond with his great-granddaughter, Zion Hitchcock.
Tyrone was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Hitchcock; his parents Eulie (John) Atcher and Gulbranson Hitchcock; his brothers John and William Atcher.
