ToShiro was the first-born son of LaTanya Johnson and Edward Harrison Parmer on August 22nd, 1977. After residing in Benton Harbor for many years, he was compelled to relocate to Grand Rapids, Michigan a year ago in order to be near his son T.J. (Toshiro Jr.) who attends Ferris State University. Shiro was blessed to have two adult children, Veniqua LaShay (Edarius) Miller and Toshiro Alvin Johnson. Both children were a source of pride and joy. As a father, he was bound and determined to make a better life for himself and his kids.
Shiro was known for having the spirit of a Gentle Giant. He was an intelligent, super fun, and engaging young man. He entertained his family through witty and clever remarks while always trying to offer support when needed. He proposed in his heart to develop special relationships with his four grandchildren: Dominic, Noah, Sevyn, and Eries (Veniqua’s children). We are especially proud that he recently accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. Shiro was employed by Steelcase, Inc. and worked several second jobs to supplement his income.
Shiro leaves to mourn his mother, LaTanya, and four siblings: LaKeena Crawford, LaToya (Tamon) Turner, Dexter Brown and Kenny Crawford. Also left to mourn is his grandmother, Donna Marrie Imler. Five uncles, Alvin, Michael, and VaJin Johnson, Christopher J., Tracy A. and Curtis N. Parmer and an aunt, Lynn Marie Schmidt. Shiro was blessed to have another aunt, Shirley Johnson, whom was often referred to as his “second mom”. Also grieving the loss of their cousin are Devon Johnson, JaVaughn Brown, Antoine Coleman, Jina Johnson, Orlando Johnson, Kenneitha Hubbard, Alisa Tailor, Alisha Taylor, Michael Cain, and Chauncey Hubbard. Shiro also provided a fatherly impact to several young people including Kyleisha Nance, Dwayne Grant, Darnell Bishop, Xavieryon Little, Michael, Dareisha, and LaShonda Rogers.
Awaiting him in heaven are his father, Edward Parmer, and his beloved “granddaddy”, Alvin Eugene Johnson, and maternal grandmother, Idella Johnson, and his paternal grandfather, Edward Harrison Parmer Sr.
