Sylvia M. (Davis) Robinson

Sylvia M. Robinson, 73, passed peacefully at home in Benton Harbor, MI on April 13, 2026 surrounded by family. Sylvia was born June 1,1952 in Benton Harbor, MI, and was adopted at an early age to Gertrude Addison, and her loving Godfather, Richard Johnson. Sylvia was baptized and became a member of Hopewell Baptist Church at an early age. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1970. Sylvia then attended Lake Michigan College, in which she obtained her Associates Degree in Elementary Education in 1972.

During her college career, Sylvia participated in the Black Student Union Club and met Arthur L. Robinson I. Arthur and Sylvia were married in holy matrimony on August 9,1975. Two children were born to this union, Arthur Robinson II and Shayla G. Robinson. Sylvia truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Sylvia was a dedicated member of Christian Light Baptist Church and served in several capacities. Dedication was also a trait reflected during her career. Sylvia worked for Inter-City Bank, Whirlpool Financial Corporation, the City of Benton Harbor, and concluded her career at Lowe’s. Lowe’s became the place where people would shop and take some time to catch up with her. Sylvia’s team building skills led her to participate in several roles such as a volunteer for NODA Support group, Election Poll Worker, and Mentoring for High School Students Summer Work Program.

Sylvia M. Robinson leaves to cherish her memory: Her husband of 50 years, Arthur Lee Robinson I, her children, Arthur L. Robinson II (Seimone), and Shayla G. Robinson, brother Mark, and a host of brother and sister in-laws, aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
