Robert Isom Slappy was born on November 28,1952 to the union of Jewel Davis and Judson La Grant Slappy Jr. in Chicago, Illinois.
Robert was raised in a loving home by foster parents Jossie and James Randolph Williams.
Robert was baptized at an early age at Victory Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Willaim Bryant of Chicago, IL. The family moved to Baldwin, Michigan where he became a member of Community Church of Woodland Park.
Robert attended William G. Beale and Fernwood Elementary Schools in Chicago, IL. He attended John Marshall Harlan High School in Chicago and continued his education at Baldwin High in Baldwin, MI where he completed his education.
Robert worked as a custodian in various Michigan schools, in addition he also enjoyed his landscaping job.
Robert was fun-loving and an up-beat person, always with a smile on his face. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. The gatherings and fun times we all had with him will never be forgotten. He was affectionately called “Uncle Bobby” by his nieces and nephew. He loved taking them to the drive-in movies back then. He always had “zoo-zoos and wham whams” for all the kids, which was another phrase for junk food. He loved to play softball and basketball as a child but was unable to as he got older due to his arthritis.
