Robert Anthony Gilbert was born April 2, 1964, in Benton Harbor, Michigan to William Fred Gamble and Leola Gilbert, and lovingly raised by his stepfather, Andrew Guidry, Sr.
Buckin Bob as he was affectionately known was a proud 1982 graduate of Benton Harbor High School. He served proudly in the US Army and the Navy.
He was employed four years with Lacks, one of the top industrial plants in the Grand Rapids area. He retired and relocated to Grand Rapids, MI.
Later in life, Robert re-dedicated his life to Christ and was re-baptized in 2003 under the pastoral guidance of Pastor Victor and Tricia Field. Buckin’ Bob had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. His favorite past-time was enjoying family and friends. He will always be remembered for being the best at making your frown turn upside down with his many jokes.
In 1998 Robert met Latrina L. Leverrette and they were married in 2004 in Grand Rapids, MI. Together they lovingly shared the loss of two sons who passed at birth. This union was later blessed with one daughter, Miracle O'Shay Gilbert.
Robert will forever be remembered by his four-year-old daughter, Miracle; 7 sisters: Cynthia, Marion, Regina, Rhonda, Terri, and Keisha; 3 brothers: William Gamble, Jr., Shelby, and Karry; his Godbrothers: Sheldon McAfee and Kelvin Cornelius; a beloved aunt, Rose Hubbert; a special cousin Glenda and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, and friends.
Robert was proceeded in death by his wife Latrina; his parents; Stepfather, Grandmother, Ellen Atkinson; a sister, Tammy Jones; a brother, Andrew Guidry, Jr., and an Aunt Etta Jean Booker.
