Rita Lynn Sutton

Rita was born October 27, 1962, in Benton Harbor Michigan to Alice Miriam Parnell and Father Vernon Julius Sutton.

Rita was a loving mother and phenomenal grandmother. She loved cooking and hosting family gatherings with her children and grandbabies. She also loved taking care of those in need and babysitting her grandsons, Darius and Dylan. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and shopping for her grandbabies. When she was able, she would prepare meals for BHPD in what has been named “Button’s Cafe”.

Rita 59 years old of Benton Harbor passed away very unexpectedly on November 11, 2021, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. 

Rita will forever be cherished by her better half Donald Taylor and remembered in the hearts of her children: Elizabeth, Casey, David, Stephanie, Merissa, and Sapphire Also her sweet grandbabies: Darius and Dylan Steed, Charles and Cayden Ray, Kenneth Bernard, Aria and Elijah Trice, and Luna Mahon. She was greatly loved by her godchildren: Anita Terrell, Gene Dickleman, and Briana Fischer. Siblings: Naomi Gail, Vernon Jay, and Leonard Elliot Jr., family, and friends. Some of her proudest memories are with her niece Teri Lynn Sutton.

She is preceded in death by her mother Alice, father Vernon, sister Brenda, brother Robert, and granddaughter Amelia Steed.
