Rickey Shamonte Goss

Death has once again invaded our family and transitioned into an amazing father, loving son, beloved brother, caring nephew, cousin, classmate, and loyal friend.

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, Rickey Shamontae Goss transitioned from this earthly home and is now resting with his heavenly family.

Rickey Shamontae Goss was born to Melissa Goss and Rodney Jordan on Sunday, March 29, 1981, at Memorial Hospital in St. Joseph, Michigan, He was preceded in death by his father, Rodney Jordan, sister Erica Jordan, grandfather Paul Williams, grandmother Geneva Douglas, maternal grandparents Mary Jane Jordan, John Jordan, and step-grandfather Ira Robinson, special cousins Shamika Jordan, Jason Jordan, Te’Shann Goss, and Darius Nickens

Montae affectionally called by his family was educated in Benton Harbor Area Schools, Class of 1999, He accepted Christ at an early age. He worked as a Die Caster at Aludyne in Benton Harbor, MI, and was a very diligent hard worker. He loved being with his children and making sure they were always taken care of. He loved his family and friends very much. He walked around with a smile on his face and was rarely seen without it. He was often referred to as “Smiley”.  He loved to make others laugh. His favorite name he likes to call everyone was dusty because in his eyes everyone was dusty. Anytime there was a family gathering he was there, he loved his family and enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed listening to music and hanging out with his friends and he was respected by many and will do just about anything for those he loved. He loved playing games with his brother, nephews, and friends.  As a child, he would often spend time with his cousins Damon and Jason. Once his Aunt Kim took them to movies and then to Henry’s Hamburgers to get brown bags. Montae wanted to have extra fries, so she got him a pound of fries and he would eat them all; making them all laugh. Montae was a happy Lil baby, always smiling. He loved cream of wheat and bananas and was called Monty by his aunt.  She loved talking with him on the phone and riding out to Buss just to see him.  His smile, loving spirit, and generosity will truly be missed.

Uncles; Craig Shivers, Dennis (Yashika) Rockett, Chester Rockett, Paul Williams, Seve Burroughs, John Jordan Jr. of Benton Harbor, and Darrell Williams Jordan of Battle Creek, MI. Aunts; Paula Williams, Staci (Marion) Perry, Kim (Thomas) Jordan-McMullin, Evelyn (Terry) Jordan-Maben, Cynthia Jordan of Benton Harbor, and Arzelia Jordan of Atlanta, GA. Nieces; Ryshieona, Keondre, Keone, Rishari, and Sherniyah, Nephews; Elontre, Tommie, Dasharion, Ka’Marrion, La’Marrion, and Monte, and a host of cousins, classmates, family members, and friends.
