Richard Otto Rufus was born on October 27, 1951, to the late Richard Rufus Sr. and Beatrice Rufus. He was married to Shermain Rufus for 53 wonderful years, during which they welcomed six beautiful children: Audrea (Hurie) Brown of Mishawaka, IN; Andrea (John) Johnson of Clarksdale, MS; Janetta Odjo of Memphis, TN; Bryant (Jasmine) Farmer of Indianapolis, IN; Sharonda (Lance) Brown of Benton Harbor, MI; and Richard (Kelly) Farmer of Atlanta, GA. Richard resided in Benton Harbor, MI, where he accepted Christ at an early age. He enjoyed listening to music and cherishing the moments spent with his loved ones. He shared a very special bond with his sister, Johnnie Mae Washington, and his great nieces and nephew. He is also survived by three brothers: Dallas Rufus of TN, and Willie and Ricky Dotson of Cincinnati, OH. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shermain Rufus, his mother Beatrice Rufus, his father Richard Rufus Sr., his brother Calvin Rufus, and his grandson Robert Farmer. He leaves behind a legacy of love, with 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. A heartfelt thank you to his special friends and the Johnson family for their prayers and unwavering support during his time of need. Though Richard has departed from this world, his loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. Richard Rufus fought valiantly until the work God proclaimed was finished on December 7, 2024. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him
