Richard Dawson Jr.

Richard Dawson Jr., 90 of Benton Harbor departed his life on January 22, 2020.

Richard Dawson Jr., 90,  of Benton Harbor, MI was born September 17, 1929, in Folsom, LA to Richard Dawson Sr. and Rosa Bickham Dawson.  He left school at a young age to help support his parents.  

 Richard was united in matrimony with Eraie Mae James and they relocated to Michigan in 1951. To this union were two children born, Robert and Florine Dawson. Richard was employed with Senator Harry Litowich as a personal aide. Later he became employed with National Motors of South Haven, MI. for twenty-five (25) years.

Richard accepted Christ at a young age and was devoted to the church for many years.

Richard leaves to cherish his memories: His children, Robert and Florine Dawson,  9 grandchildren: Theresa Dawson of South Bend, IN., Charles Dawson of Grand Rapids, MI., Terrance Dawson of MI., Meosha Iron and Shaun Dawson of Battle Creek. MI., Fifteen (15) great-grand-children, three (3) nephews: Bob and Calvin Brown, Elliott West and a host of other relatives and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rosa, wife, Eraie, sister, Velma West, and grandson, Todd Austin.
