Rev. George Robinson Obituary

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.”

Roman 1:16

The Reverend George Robinson was one of six children born to the Christian lineage of late Rev. Willie and Lady Lena Robinson on December 10, 1948, in the city of St. Louis, Missouri.

In 1960, at the young age of 12 years old George followed the Christian path of his father the late Rev. Willie Robinson by acknowledging his call to the ministry.  In 1968, George was ordained at Grace Tabernacle Church in St. Louis, MO. George first sermon after his ordination was Acts 1:26, “Set Free by Prayer”. With his love for the ministry, some of George sermon titles were, “What Did You Find in Jesus”, “Come to the throne”, “Looking for The City”, “A Wild Man Meets Jesus”, and “Your Good Thing Will Come to an End”, just to name a few. One of his favorite sayings was “Always keep your clothes on when you go into the House of the Lord.” Meaning always be ready to preach the Gospel when you enter his house.  His favorite word was “Well” at which he would put emphasis on when he was preaching.

On July 1, 1971, George united in Holy matrimony to the late Maddie Robinson; and to this union one son, George Erin was born.

George Robinson spent his formative years in St. Louis, MO where he attended Vershawn High School and Jones Ministry College. At the age of 21 years old, George relocated to the City of Benton Harbor, where he completed his secondary education at Lake Michigan College.  Upon his arrival, he united in Christian fellowship with the Golden Light Baptist Church. Geroge later served 25 years as the pastor of Macedonia Community Church in Eau Claire, MI. At the demise of the late Pastor Elbert Brown, in the year of 2000 the congregation of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church elected George to serve as their pastor.  In January of 2024, after 24 years of service and much prayer, Rev. George Robinson decided to retire as the Pastor.

George was a man of great Faith. A man whose steps truly were ordered by God. On September 1, 2019, George united with the New Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Maurice McAfee.

In Genesis 2:18, the Lord God states, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”  On, June 22, 2013, George united in Holy matrimony to the beautiful, Joanne Robinson.

As a license mortician George spent many years within the funeral home, caring for grieving families alongside his father and his brothers.  George compassion for the people of God, lead him to plant many seeds of love, peace, joy, hope, understanding and endurance.  George loved making others laugh and would often leave you in wonders from his unique but profound quotes.

For we know, to be absent from the body is to be in the present with the Lord 2nd Corinthians 5:8.
