Ranson Ivy Obituary

Ranson Renard Ivy Sr., affectionately known as “Ramp,” was born on October 16, 1965, to Ms. Gertie May Ivy and the late Roosevelt McConnell in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He was lovingly raised by his pops, Zelma Turner Jr. Ranson was a lifelong resident of Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Ranson transitioned from this life to eternity on April 15, 2026, at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.

Ranson confessed Jesus Christ as Lord at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. Burton Reynolds in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He was educated in the Benton Harbor Area School District and was a proud graduate of Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1983.

Immediately after high school, Ranson began working, demonstrating a strong work ethic that carried throughout his life. In 1994, he was given the opportunity to work at Allied Signal, which later became Bosch Automotive Group, where he remained a dedicated employee until his passing.

Ranson was a man of few words, yet full of love. He deeply loved his mother, his children, his family, and his friends. To know Ranson was to love him, and he will truly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, his best friend and cousin Carvel Rosenburg, and those closest to him. On June 15, 1998, he married the late Patricia Ann Jordan, and from this union, two of his four children were born.

Ranson was preceded in death by his father Roosevelt McConnell; his pops Zelma Turner Jr.; his sister Monique Vincent; his wife Patricia Ivy; his godmother and great-aunt Eula Mae Turner; and his God-sister Paulette Turner-Atterberry.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Gertie May Turner of Benton Harbor, Michigan; his children, Brittney T. Ivy (Benton Harbor, MI), Lamarion D. Ivy (South Bend, IN), Ranson R. Ivy Jr. (Indianapolis, IN), and Darien T. Ivy (Benton Harbor, MI); his brothers, Fredrick (Debra) McConnell (Huntersville, NC), Franklin (Debra) McConnell (South Bend, IN), and Caster  (Denise) Taylor (St. Joseph, MI); his sisters, Althea McConnell (Grand Rapids, MI), Jackie Treadwell (Kalamazoo, MI), Patricia McConnell (Omaha, NE), Lisa McConnell (Macon, GA), Beonce McConnell (Dallas, TX), and Iris S. Turner (Round Rock, TX); his six grandchildren, Jordan Ivy, Noah Ivy, Madison Ivy, Ranson R. Ivy III, Cason Ivy, and Kholson Ivy; his god-sister and cousin, Kenya “Neicy” Ellis (Benton Harbor, MI); Marie Mitchell (Berrien Springs, MI) his best friend and cousin, Carvel Rosenburg (Benton Harbor, MI); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
