Patricia Ann Meeks

A life of love and laughter is to be celebrated, never mourned. Such a life began when, Patricia A. Meeks, one of six children born to the union of the late William and Lou Lilly in Cairo, IL on August 23, 1951.

Patricia was educated in the Benton Harbor Public School system and graduated from the Benton Harbor High School in 1968.

She was united in marriage to John Meeks II and that union was blessed with one son, John Meeks III.

Patricia enjoyed the many church activities at an early age while attending Lee’s Temple Church of God In Christ with her family in Covert, MI under the leadership of the late Supt. James S. Lee.

During her high school years, Patricia and her family attended McCoy’s #2 under the leadership of the late Supt. John H. McCoy.

As an adult she united with Brotherhood of All Nations Church of God In Christ under leadership of Bishop James Atterberry Sr.

In the words of her son, John, “my mother loved the Lord and believed in prayer. She was a kind and loving mother. She loved her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was proud of her siblings and loved to brag about their accomplishments.” She was blessed with an extended family, Mike and Betty Oatsvall and Brenda Davis. They always enjoyed her cooking, and they always had her back.

Patricia worked at the Berrien County Courthouse in the Prosecutor’s office, The F.O.C. Division and she retired in 2013 after 36 years of service.

The final earthly chapter of her courageous life came to close as she answered the call from the Master which came on April 28, 2024.

A tower of strength and love she will forever be cherished in the memories of her son, John Meeks III of Benton Harbor, MI; six grandchildren and an endeared grandson, Germaine Meeks all of Benton Harbor; three brothers, Lawrence Lilly of Benton Harbor, MI, William Lilly Jr. of El Paso, Texas; and Nathan (Lena) Lilly of Kea’au, HI; two sisters, Florence Lilly of Benton Harbor, MI and Janice (Ray Contractor) Lilly of Las Vegas, NV; one aunt, Charlie Johnson of Benton Harbor, MI; one uncle, Julius Oats of St. Joseph, MI and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lou Lilly.
