“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)
The earthly life of Mother Luerether Kiser suddenly came to an end on Tuesday October 1, 2024, at her home. Mother Kiser was born September 29, 1935, to the late Drew Arthur Moore and Adell (Carter) Moore in Mississippi.
Mother Kiser confessed her belief in Christ at a young age and was baptized at New Bethel Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late M. H. Raspberry. She remained a faithful member until she answered the Master’s call. For over 60 years she worked diligently as a prompt member of the Sunday School, Mission, Bible Study, the adored treasurer of the Pastor’s Aide, a Master Chef in the Culinary Department, and a former member of the Gospel Chorus. Her smile….dedication and quiet demeanor will be missed by everyone at New Bethel…..especially those that loved her ‘specialty of fried chicken’!
Mother Luerether’s work ethic and genuine dedication to the jobs she held were impeccable in the service industry…that she proudly called her highest accomplishments! Although she didn’t finished her schooling…..she was a genius in her own loving way….she had wisdom beyond a book! She found great joy in traveling with her special crew to the many singing programs, church services and wherever they were going to enjoy Christian fellowship. On any given day you could find her filling her day with one of her favorite shows “The Young & The Restless” or “As The World Turns” and nearing the end of the day……winning on “The Price Is Right”!
Loving memories will always be in the hearts of those she left behind: 1 daughter: Patricia (Michael) Howell, Louisville, KY; 3 sons: Bryan (Vanessa) Kiser, Isaiah (Simone) Kiser all of Benton Harbor, and Purnell Kiser, of Lansing MI; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her friend of 70 years, Willie Ora Mason; a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
Mother Kizer was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Ollie Kiser Sr.; 5 brothers: James Moore, Drew Moore, Jr., Nathaniel Moore, Joe Nathan Moore, and Lloyd Moore; 5 sisters: Election Faye Jordan, Leona Moore, Barbara Jones, Esther Moore, and Levolia Moore; a special grand-daughter that she raised, Kimberly Coates.
Our beloved Mother Kiser has finished her course and kept the faith, her earthly life has ended but her legacy lives on.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saint. Psalm 116:15
