McNeal Posey Sr. was born in Forest City, Arkansas to Gertrude Griffin and Mick Posey.
At the age of 16, he made his way to Benton Harbor, Michigan, and worked in the foundry and finally found his nitch as a plumber, at Ideal Plumbing for 36 years. He was in the Labor’s Union for over 50 years.
He joined Hopewell Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John Simmons in 1975 and was a faithful member until his health no longer permitted. He was a member of the Usher Board for over 40 years. He served as the Vice-President with his good friend for over 60 years, Mother Florence Bennett was the President. She gave McNeal a ride to church and home when he could no longer drive.
He had a saying, “no matter how tough it gets, never give up, “and he didn’t. At the age of 95, he was still living alone and doing the best he could to keep his yard looking good and taking care of himself.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his children; Willie Mae Posey Brown, McNeal (Debra) Posey, Jr., Diane Adams, Ronnie (Tracey) Posey, Alphonso Posey, Amelia (Angelo) Scott, Craig (Rhonda) Posey, Karen Posey, and Glenda Kay Bell. A host of grand and great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. A Bonus Son, Edward Sayles Jr, and a special niece Nicole Garrett.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Dimpsey, the children’s mother Karine, his parents, Gertrude and Mick, and all ten of his siblings.
