Mother Maxine Taylor was born on September 25, 1939, as the second twin to Charlie and Josephine Taylor in Arkansas City, Arkansas. Maxine was lovingly referred to as momma to all her children and grandchildren. Momma moved from her earthly home to her heavenly home on April 9, 2025.
Momma joined Pilgram Rest Baptist Church at a young age under the Leadership of late Pastor W.E. Ellis, then the late Pastor Emery Mack Varrie, and now Pastor Carlton Lynch. Momma was a faithful choir member, but her passion was ushering souls into the House of the Lord. Momma and daddy’s (John Thomas White) hearts beat as one for over 67 years until his transition November 2023. Momma worked hard to care for her family. Momma worked at Robert Bosch Manufacturing for over 30 years until retirement in 2004. Momma loved to go to garage sales and certainly the casino. She was a lucky woman. Momma work alongside daddy in the operation of a night club in Chicago IL. called Mr. White’s Twilights and The Fish Market in Benton Harbor, MI. To know momma was to love her. Momma was a piler of the Benton Harbor Community for over 70 years. Momma was honored and presented with the Key to the City in 2009 by Mayor Wilce Cooke.
Momma’s memories & legacy will live on in her 6 children John Wayne Taylor, Tina Parker, Terry White, Tangela Weatherspoon, Victor (Kathrine) White and Tony (Shawn) Franks-Taylor. One adopted grand-daughter Ebony Partee. 6 bonus children, Mary White, Patricia Ruffin, Diane Mickens, Donna Jean McClelland, Francine Woods, and Tony White. Dear and special brother-n-law Thomas (Annie) White. 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Four very special friends Alice Rollins, Dorothy Pepper, Eva Harris and Ola Mae McMillian. One special son-n-law Floyd (Aretha) Davis.
Momma was preceded in death by daddy (John T. White), parents Charlie & Josephine Taylor, twin sister Marine Branscumb, brothers Henry Taylor and LaVelle Taylor, 1 grandson Travis Taylor and 1 son-in law David Parker.
