Mary Ella Curry-Williams affectionately known as Madea was born August 12, 1939, to parents Willie and Ruby Curry, in Jefferson City, Missouri. Mary was raised in Charleston, Missouri, and later settled her life in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Mary departed this life on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
Mary accepted Christ in her life and from there, lived her life devoted to serving the Lord. Mary served as a member of the usher board for many years.
Mary was a loving and nurturing person. Mary became a foster parent to share that love and nurturing.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories of her children Harvey (Ella) Curry and Ruth Curry of Pontiac, MI, Imogene Wade of Dallas, TX., and a granddaughter that she raised, Laquita (Mark) Brumfield. Mary also leaves to cherish her memory sisters Nellie McCoy of Benton Harbor, MI, Rosie Lee Curry-Lampkin of Toledo, OH, daughter-in-law Debra Curry of Pontiac, MI, Godson Stanley Chambers of Dallas, TX and., and a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Williams, son Tommy Lee Curry, grandsons Angelo Wade and Randy Scott, great-grandchildren Brandon and Brittany Scott, Marquita, and Akyra Brumfield, and Godsons Tas Jackson and Anthony Jefferson. Siblings Claude Curry, Willie Curry, Jr, Charlie Curry, James Curry, Irene Harris, Alice Kent, Evelyn Curry, Erma Curry, parents Willie and Ruby Curry
