Mary (Mae) Yarbrough Shaw was born on January 24,1932 in Chatfield, Arkansas to Theluman and Alice Yarbrough.
Mary, whom God blessed to live for 92 years, had a favorite saying, “I’m doing good for a young girl!”
She moved up north to Michigan with her daughter Mildred but lived most of her adult life in Chicago, Illinois where she married the late Melvin Shaw in April 1967 and to this union 3 children were born. Melvin and Mary also opened their home as foster parents and were blessed to adopt some of the children.
While living in Chicago, Mary was a faithful member of the New Testament Baptist Church. In her later years, she relocated to Benton Harbor, MI and united with the Bread of Life Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert L. DeFrance until her passing.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory six children, Mildred (Louis) Joseph of Benton Harbor, MI, Kim (Eric) Higginbottom of Minneapolis MN , Dorian (Engrid) Shaw of Gary, IN, Jalisa Shaw, Mary Ann Shaw and Cierra Shaw all of Chicago, IL, 19 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and Friends.
