Mary Elizabeth Rimpson affectionately called “Liz” by her family and close friends, was born on February 27, 1959. She was born to the union of the late Vermond Rimpson and Mary Louise Rimpson in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She was educated in the Benton Harbor Area Schools System where she ran track in High School and was a proud graduate of the Benton Harbor High School Class of 1977. After graduation, Liz was employed by Bibco, Ausco Products, Benton Harbor Area School Food Service/After School Program, and most recently Burlington Coat Factory touching the lives of many.
Liz was a true gem and one of the most honest, strong, independent, and caring persons you could meet. She would bend over backwards for those she cared about and whenever you saw her, she had a smile or joke to tell. She had a passion for reading books, watching Western and Shark Week Sci-Fi Action Movies, talking on the phone, and spending time with family. She was a devoted mother to her four beautiful children (in which she did NOT play about) and she cherished babysitting and joking around with her grandchildren (whom she also did NOT play about). Liz was an active grandparent and close loved ones would often call her the “baby whisperer.” She was drawn to all children and would still run, jump, and play with them as if she was still 20 years old. A lot of the children in Benton Manor Apartments referred to her as “Grandma” because she would laugh, play, and provide discipline as if they were family. While soft-spoken in nature, you didn’t want to get on her bad side, as she would always go to bat for the ones she loved.
Liz accepted Christ into her heart at a young age under the leadership of the late Rev. C.M. Jones Sr. and currently, under the leadership of Pastor Charlie Jones Jr., Liz remained a faithful member of the Beautiful Gate Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the church choir and a booster parent with the Youth Department
