Margaret Jennette Jackson, 68, of Benton Harbor, peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 20th 1957 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Margaret lived a life defined by devotion, strength, and a deep commitment to her family. She was the heartbeat of her home, steady in hard seasons, generous in joyful ones, and unwavering in the way she showed up for the people she loved. Her presence carried comfort; her words carried wisdom; and her love leaves a permanent mark in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A creative person to her core, Margaret loved turning simple fabric into items both beautiful and practical. With a needle and thread, she created more than quilts and clothing; she created comfort, confidence, and keepsakes that her family will treasure for years to come.
She also found peace and joy in her garden. Her hands cultivated soil and tended plants the same way she cared for people: steady and nurturing, showing love through action and ensuring those under her watch were always cared for.
Margaret also genuinely enjoyed travelling. The road meant freedom to her, and whether it was driving across the country, cruising down the Nile in Egypt, or hugging the Giant Sequoias in California, traveling gave her the opportunity to experience and enjoy all this world had to offer.
Though we grieve her absence, we are grateful for the years we had, the lessons she’s left, and the love she poured into our family. Margaret’s legacy will live on through all of us who have loved and been loved by her.
She is survived by five children: Jesse Sanders, Kala Sanders (Sylvia), Cecil Benson (Nell), Marquitta Newett, and Lydia Rosses (Lennard); fourteen grandchildren: Felicia, Khahari, Kala, Teaira, Corey, Kaitlyn, Adonis, Lemaria, Kennedy, Caleb, Cecil, Vanessa, Madison, Keagan, Lidiya, Kaleigh, and Justin; twelve great grandchildren; her mother, Emma Jo Hill; twelve siblings: Lavanna Bennet, Linda Hill, Lewis Hill, Michael Hill, Shelia Noble, Joseph Hill, Anthony Hill, Stephanie Byrd, James Bryd, Arnold Bryd, Teran Byrd, and Sandra Clay; and a wide circle of friends and loved ones who were blessed by her life.
She was preceded in death by her father Lewis Hill, brother Cedric Hill, and Godmother Mozena Smith.
