Mamie Duff-Matthews Obituary

Mamie Leora Duff- Matthews was born on January 29th, 1937, in Yalobusha Mississippi to her loving Mother Ealy Smith who proceeded her in death.

Mamie accepted Christ into her life under the leadership of Pastor John Price at St Mark Missionary Baptist Church in 1980. Mamie was a devoted Church Mother and remained a faithful member for over 30 years, until she and her loving husband Albert moved to Southaven Mississippi. There, they became faithful members under the leadership of Pastor Bartholomew Orr of Brown Baptist Church in Southaven MS.

Mamie was the mother of five beautiful children. She was employed as a Supervisor at Saluto’s Pizza in Coloma, MI and retired as a Supervisor from Supreme Diecast. The owner of the company- Bill loved and adored her. After her retirement, Mamie and her husband enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. Mamie was a great cook and enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be truly missed. A special Thank you to her son, Sherman, his wife Cathy and daughter, VicShonda Newbern for their unrelenting love, care and support for our mother’s health journey. Mamie was proceeded in death by her devoted husband Albert Matthews, (Sister) Annie Yates, (Brother) Roy J. Bradford (Dilly) and (Niece)Ora Bell Greenwood.

Mamie  is survived by her (Brother) Herman Smith of Memphis,TN (Children) Sherry Duff(Tony) of Kalamazoo, MI, Sherman (Cathy) Duff, Patricia (James) Moore, Michael Duff and Abdul Duff of Benton Harbor, MI, (Cousin) Dessie Tyler of Michigan City, IN, (Niece) Theaster Yates, of South Bend, IN, (Niece)Rose Mary Marsh (Yates) of Milwaukee WI,  Great Nieces, Eleasa Jefferson, Tiffeny Marsh and Keona Smith (Louis) of Milwaukee WI, Tiffany Cogdell (Greenwood)(Maurice) of Spring, TX, Great Nephew, Ronald Greenwood of Grand Rapids, MI (8) Grandchildren, (22) Great Grand Children, God Children Keeta and Dominique of Southaven, MS and a host of family and friends.
