Lillie B Means 89, departed this life on February 27, 2025, at her home in Benton Harbor MI, surrounded by her daughters.
Lillie was born August 1, 1935, in Desha County, Arkansas to the union of Will and Mae Bell Soules. The youngest of her siblings, Lillie developed a lifelong love of family and appreciation for her hard work. She retired from Bosh braking in February 1998, with over 25 years of service.
Her family was her major focus and time spent with them brought her much happiness. She enjoyed yard sales, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, her all-time favorite Young and Restless, her annual birthday bash, a good buffet style dinner and cooking, which included her famous banana pudding and sloppy joes that she made from scratch. She was an active member of her church Peter’s Rock Baptist Church until her health started to decline and she was no longer able to attend. Although unable to attend physically, she was a prayer warrior and read her bible often.
Lillie is survived by her 5 children Anthony Johnson, Cynthia Jackson, Sheila Johnson and Beverly Johnson, and Keith Taylor. Thirteen grandchildren; Erica and Rosella Jackson, Danielle (Kenny) Morrison, Makeia Chappell, Demetrius (Michelle)Johnson, Tashanika Williams, Rachell Johnson, Torian Johnson, Shamyia Johnson, Brianna Johnson, Anthony Johnson Jr, Evelyn Johnson and Darius Johnson. Along with 40 great grandchildren and 17 great- great grandchildren and 5 honorary grandsons (Derrick, Jason, Damen and Leonard Bell, Jamal Warren) 1 special niece Freda Warren. Along with a host of additional family and friends.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, 4 sisters Willie Boyd (her twin), Hazel Daren, Emma Gaines and Josephine Taylor. 3 brothers Edward Souls, Will Jr Soules, and Charlie Soules.
