Leslie was born February 2, 1979, in Berrien Springs, MI to Barbara and Leslie James, both of Louisiana.
Leslie loved his family and his friends. He considered himself to be “The Family Protector”. He was always the life of the party and a joy to be around. He had a very contagious smile and a charismatic personality that brightened any room he entered. He loved his music and enjoyed spending time with his children. Leslie had many talents from writing, producing music, drawing, cutting hair, and cooking.
Leslie leaves to cherish his parents, Leslie, and Barbara James of Benton Harbor; two biological children, his oldest son, Dontrae (Trae) Banks of Benton Harbor, MI, and Leslie James Headspeth Jr. (LJ) of Mississippi; three other children that he loved and raised as his own, Eric Dyer, Davion Banks and Camron Smith all of Benton Harbor; one sister, Sherrey Headspeth (whom he loved and adored); five brothers, Antoine Headspeth, Jimmy Taylor, Michael Taylor, David Williams and Martes Williams all of Benton Harbor; his oldest and favorite niece that he loved and cherished, Shanice Harmon of Benton Harbor; special friends and family, Alvin Williams, Justin Williams, Angela Phillips, Leah Arnett, and Edward Headspeth, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Leslie was preceded in death by, Tom Headspeth (Grandfather), Glenda Headspeth (Aunt), Selina Headspeth (Grandmother), Corinna Hutchinson (Grandmother), Dorthy Hutchinson (Aunt), Percy Hutchinson (Uncle), Shirley Washington (Aunt), Dorthy Brown (Aunt), Hattie Mae Williams (Aunt) and the mother of his oldest son, Kathy Banks.
