Leroy Love

Leroy Love, 75 of Benton Harbor was a good and faithful servant that departed this life on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, when he was wrapped in the arms of the lord surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on July 12, 1949 to the late George and Vera Love in Hughes, Arkansas.

Leroy confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was a loyal member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan under Pastor Maurice McAfee.

Leroy met his wife and best friend Yvonne “Bonnie” Love in 1988 and they were married in July 1992.  He had a long and fruitful career in the Ceramics Division at Leco Corporation. Leroy enjoyed tinkering with classic cars, fishing, gardening, fixing things around the house, long rides through the countryside with his wife, and most of all spending quality time with his family. 

Leroy leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife Yvonne “Bonnie” Love; two stepsons Steven (Shelia) Allen of Manassas, Virginia, and Greg (Sandra) Abrams of Benton Harbor, Michigan; two stepdaughters Ashley Allen and Rosaline Thomas of Benton Harbor, Michigan; one brother Donnie (Georgia) Love of Marion, Arkansas; six sisters Vera Washington of Houston, Texas, Oletha (Garon) Love of Bloomington, Indiana, Clarice Love, Rosemary (L.C.) Nelson, Orene (Kevin) Warren, and Shirley Birdo all of West Memphis, Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents George and Vera Love; a stepson Garland Abrams; two stepdaughters Sheila Lee and Tammy Johnson; four sisters Clytee Allen, Sammy Burton, Bertha Lee Love, and Lily Mae Love; four brothers George Love Jr., Joe Lewis Love, Willie Love, and Simmie Love.
