Larry Perry Sr. Obituary

Larry Perry, Sr. was born on May 14, 1950, to the Late Robert and Dorothy Mae Perry in Independence, Louisiana. Larry attended Mt. Canaan Elementary School and Westside High School in Louisiana. Prior to graduating, Larry moved to Eau Claire, Michigan and was employed at Flamm Pickle and Packing Company. Larry married Charlene (Wright) Lee; to this union four children were born. Larry joined the U.S. Army in 1970, where he was stationed in Fort Knox, KY. And      Germany amongst other duty stations. Upon his return home from the military, he worked at Michigan Standards in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Later in Life, he was employed at Hermel Die Casting Corp. in Eau Claire, Michigan for over 40 years as a dedicated, long-term Loyalty employee.

Larry accepted Christ at an early age. He joined Morning Star Church of God in Christ in 1970, under the leadership of the Late Superintendent Elijah Wright, Sr. where he served faithfully as the Sunday School Teacher; he continued his fellowship with Christ at New Morning Star Church of God in Christ.

Later, Larry met Jacqueline in 1994, and they began a relationship. They married in 2010 in Benton Harbor, MI, where they shared 13 years of marriage and over 30 years together.

Larry departed this life on January 31st, 2025, at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan in the presence of his daughter.  Larry will be remembered by two of his Favorite Quotes: “Shows I Tell You” and “There it is”, along with his favorite Food and drink, (Double Cheeseburger & Vanilla Shake). If there ever was a conversation had, he was getting just that. Larry loved playing cards and Dominoes with family and friends outside in the yard; he also entertained a lot of people within the community.

Larry was loved by many. He leaves to cherish his memories: Two Sons and Three Daughters Jerome (Neliea) Perry of Walker Louisiana, Larry (Eureka) Perry, Jr. of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Darlene (Drew) Bridgeman of Dayton, Ohio, Marilyn Perry of Bellwood, Illinois and Dorothy Pulliam of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Three Sisters: Linda Jones of Milton, FL., Lillie Buckhalter of Roseland, Louisiana and Marilyn Robinson of Las Vegas, Nevada.

His Grandchildren: Da’Viontae White, Don’Quisha Finley, Don’Quarius Finley, De’Juan Moon, Jamarkus Norman, Bobby Turner, Jr. Jamille Thompson, Dondrell Finley, Jerome Perry, Jr., Jelaana Perry, Judah Perry and Jayvon Pulliam, Great-Grandchildren: Jordan White, Bryson James, and Ava White. A host of Brother-in-laws, Sister-in-laws, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. Larry also left to cherish his memories to a long-time loyal friend of 60 years Sam Vernon, and a Host of Family and Friends: Sherina Lee, Curtis Bolton, Jr., Prentiss McGruder, John Henry Moore, Jr. and Lonnie Ray Moore, a family friend: Kemal Jordan.   

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Mae Perry; his wife, Jacqueline Perry; two brothers, Rayford Lee Perry and Lionell Perry; and a special uncle, John Henry Moore Sr.
