On April 3, 1958, Larry Delmar Davis was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Desiree Davis (Hamilton) and Benny Davis. After his mother Desiree passed away when Larry was 11, his sister Mildred Lee Love became his guardian and a mother figure in his life. As a result, his niece and nephews—Kenneth Jackson, Dayrl Jackson, Carmel Edwards, Eric Jackson, and Mark Love—were raised almost as his siblings. Larry was an intelligent child who loved music. Through his love of music, he learned to play several instruments, with the guitar being the one he mastered. He even played the guitar in a local band to showcase his musical talent.
Post high school graduation, at the age of 19, Larry joined the United States Marine Corps where he served for four years and received an honorable discharge. He subsequently earned two associate degrees from Lake Michigan College where he went on to teach classes as a part-time faculty member. He worked at Whirlpool Corporation for twenty-four years until he retired due to health challenges.
Larry loved to be around his family, even if he was simply watching television, dancing around the room, or playing his guitars and other instruments. Larry transitioned from life to eternity at home, with his partner of 25 years, Gloria Scott by his side, on October 6, 2025, at 67 years old.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother John Benny Davis; sister Barbara Broach; nephew Mitchell Broach; brother-in-law Joe Love; stepdaughter Sharika Scott.
Larry will always be remembered by his loved ones; (3) daughters: Tiauna Ross, Sharee Brooks, Tonia Tucker; son: Delarion Davis (3) siblings: Ricky (Regina) Lee Davis, Maxwell Tony (Debra) Davis, Mildred Lee Love; brother-in-law: Willie James Broach (9) grandchildren: Jada Ross, Carl Ross III, Alani Ross, Trinity Jenkins, Makayla Jenkins, Micheal Powell, Danielle Powell, Carleton Brooks, Alyssa Brooks, and a host of nieces, nephews grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, family and friends.
