“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
LaKeisha LaKay Anderson was born December 12, 1986, to the union of Tilla and Eugene Anderson. She transitioned from her earthly body Thursday, April 30, 2026, and is now resting with the Lord, for we know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
LaKeisha, the younger sister to her brother, Marcus, was as feisty as she was sweet. She had a loving and kind spirit as long as you didn’t get on her bad side. Marcus and LaKeisha lived together and spent many nights watching movies together. He was always looking out for her and taking care of her. Marcus will forever cherish memories of the talks he shared with his sister about life.
LaKeisha was educated in both the Benton Harbor Area School and Muskegon School systems, having graduated from Muskegon “Big Reds” High School in 2005. LaKeisha went on to pursue higher education at Michigan State University. Where she met a circle of friends who would become family – not by blood, but by choice. Prior to completing her degree, she returned home and started her career path in childcare at Trinity Lutheran Childcare Center. She later went on to work with her mother, helping to open and operate Lylabugs and Buttons Childcare Center. LaKeisha was very instrumental in the start up of her mother’s childcare business and loved working and supporting in the family business.
LaKeisha’s favorite past-time was spending time with her favorite people, Lyla, Preston and Noel, at their favorite place, the park, doing their favorite thing, eating ice cream. LaKeisha also loved family gatherings where she would always have good food and a good laugh with her cousins. She also enjoyed writing poetry, where she could escape and find peace and joy in the pleasure of her writings.
Although there is a link missing in the family chain, LaKeisha will forever be in the hearts of her parents. Eugene will treasure the memories of spending time watching movies and sharing long talks with LaKeisha. Tilla will hold tight to the memories of them getting takeout food from Long John Silver’s, parking at Lookout Point and singing Midnight Train to Georgia.
LaKeisha leaves behind to cherish precious memories: her parents, Eugene and Tilla; her children, Lyla, Preston and Noel Carter; one brother, Marcus Anderson, her grandmothers, Ruby Anderson and Bettie Piggee; aunts, Lexi Mae King, Danielle Anderson, Marlene Mitchell, Bridget (Larry) Wooden, Pasha (Carla) Taylor, Angela Gray, Renee Piggee, Jasmine Piggee; uncles, Ricky Anderson, Darren Anderson, George (Michelle) Piggee, Victor Johnson; great-aunt, Darlene (Phil) Mosley; great-uncles, Victor (Sarah) Rodgers, Earl (Jean) Rodgers; her circle of friends, Jeanaya Parham, Whitney Banks, Jasmine Bennett, Martinez Jarvis, Lucretia Masengale, Markia Diop and Shanay Clark; and a host of cousins, friends and other relatives.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14: 1-3
