Kim Coates Obituary

Kim C. Wilson-Coates transitioned from this life on November 6, 2021, quite suddenly.  The bible clearly tells us in Matthew 24:36 “Of that day and hour no man knows, not even the angels of Heaven, but my Father only!”  Our hearts are saddened by the passing of our dear sister BUT we know a God who in His own way and for His purpose, has reached down and called his child Kim!  He gave her to us for 42 years but now he wants her to rest with Him!

Kim was born July 17, 1979, in Benton Harbor, MI to the late James Tyes and Rosemary Wilson.   At a young age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and enjoyed her membership at New Bethel Baptist Church where she was a member of the Imperial Choir. Sis. Kim received her formal education at Coloma High School.  After graduation, she attended Lake Michigan College.   Kim was blessed to have a loving grandmother…Luerether Kiser, who became Kim’s mother after the death of her mother; two became “two peas in a pod.”    During her college days, she met James Coates and they united in holy matrimony on May 13, 2002.   Kim enjoyed her years of employment with Brookview Day Care, Lakeland Hospital, and the YMCA Day Care; each of these jobs allowed her to love and enjoy the children who were placed in her care.

She leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life: Her husband James; Grandmother, Luerether Kiser; mother-in-law, Pearl; brother-in-law, Allen; Uncles:  Scott (his wife) Jones, Brian (Vanessa Guidry) Kiser, Isaiah (Simone) Kiser, and Purnell (Theresa Denton) Kiser; Aunts:  Cynthia, Vera, and Frankie Jones; a host niece, nephews, cousins, and friends.    She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandfather, Ollie Kiser; paternal grandparents, Jessie, and Mae Jones; Uncle: Howard Wilson; Aunts:  Lavette and Kim.   Our beloved Kim has finished her course and kept the faith and there is a crown of righteousness awaiting her.
