Remembering Juanita Gayle Beene Gibbs
Juanita Gayle (nee: Beene) Gibbs, age 73, of Frisco, Texas, formerly of Benton Harbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025. Born on January 9, 1952, Juanita was a beloved member of the Benton Harbor community. Known for her jovial personality, charitable housing contributions, and her over 40 years of professionalism at the Benton Harbor Housing Commission, she is dearly missed.
Juanita is preceded in death by her parents: James Earl and Hannah Ruth (nee: Turner) Beene, five siblings: Gene Earl, Willa Ruth, Gina Treneice, Paul Edward; her Beene/Crayton paternal grandparents, and her Turner/Kemp maternal grandparents.
Juanita is survived by her two children: Nikia Bell (husband Michael Bell, Jr.) and Kensey Simms, Jr.; five grandchildren: Michael Bell III, Gabrielle Simms-Krause, Nalani Simms-Krause, Kennedy Simms-Krause, and Kingston Higbon; her oldest sister: Emma Lou Beene Fields; two brothers: Rev. William Earl Beene and Evangelist Bobby Joe Beene, and many other cherished family members and friends.
Juanita will be forever remembered for her Apostolic worldview, her faithful discipleship, her passion for flea markets, her generosity, and her dedication to family and friends.
The family welcomes friends to join in celebrating Juanita’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Benton Harbor Housing Commission.
Juanita’s warmth, kindness, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The memories created together will be cherished forever.
