Johnny Donaldson Evans was born on Nov 3, 1951, in Benton Harbor, MI to the late Mildred (Red) and Dorothy Evans. He departed this life on May 18th, 2026, surrounded by his family.
John graduated from Benton Harbor High School with the mighty class of 1969. After graduating high school, he attended Lake Michigan College to further his education in Business Administration.
At an early age John was baptized at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.E Ellis.
John was employed by American Electric Power for 42 years and Sears for 13 years. After retirement, he was employed by Lowes for 2 years. John was a fun, loving guy who enjoyed bopping and listening to his favorite Artist Luther Vandross
John will forever be remembered by the love of his life for 21 years Freda, his children Tim (Donna) Evans, Chasity Evans (Greensboro, North Carolina), John Brandal Evans (Benton Harbor), Destiny (Derek) Burton (Benton Harbor), Omah Shabazz (Grand Rapids), and Roslyn Shabazz (Grand Rapids).
Sisters Patricia Brooks (Columbus, OH), Dorcas Evans (Atlanta, GA). Brothers Sidney (Elaine) Evans (Benton Harbor), and Eric Evans (Watervliet). He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Dorothy Evans, sister Peggy Troutman, and Grandparents Eli and Elsie Johnson.
