Joe Leslie Henderson

Joe Leslie Henderson was born on April 20, 1953, to the late Willie and Katie B. Henderson in Gary Indiana.  Joe moved to Michigan with his father later in 1953.

Joe attended school in St. Joseph MI and later received a General Education Diploma from Benton Harbor School Systems.  He worked for the City of Benton Harbor as a Heavy Machine Operator and was also employed at Rex Auto Store until his health failed him.  

Joe leaves to cherish one son Jamahl Rudley Moore of South Carolina; one daughter Tenesha Perry of BH, MI;  eight granddaughters, Ronesha Edison, Shakeya Davis, Donshell Williams, Diamone Williams, Shya Rudley, Cadijah Roseman all of Benton Harbor; Danyell Williams of Greensville, South Carolina, Michelle Rudley of Minnesota; two brothers Richard West and Thomas West of Nashville, TN; six sisters Georgia (Michael) Wellington of Hendersonville, TN, Vickie Wiest of Nashville, TN,  Delgie Palmer of Hendersonville, TN, Latoya Henderson, Tamika Henderson, Regina Henderson all of Benton Harbor; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He also leaves to cherish a very special companion, Ms. Clara Smith, friend Lemual Brown and a special nephew James Parker Hersey Sr.

Joe was preceded in death by his father Willie Henderson, birth mother Katie B Henderson, stepmother Ethel Henderson, Mother Frankie Henderson, son Joe Leslie Henderson Jr. grandson Christian Jaquan Davis, two sisters Emmie Henderson and Willie Pearl Henderson: five brothers James Hersey, Tommy Hersey, Paul Hersey, Albert Hersey, and Richard Hersey.
