Forever In Our Hearts
Jessie Whitfield, dearly beloved and devoted husband, father, pops, grandpa Jessie, pawpaw, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend was born on August 18th, 1955. He was born to Annie Mae Cooper and Robert Whitfield. He was the 4th oldest out of 10 children in his family and the one everyone could always count on. On December 22, 2024 while at Corewell Health Hospital surrounded by family Jessie peacefully went on to be with the Lord.
He was born in Benton Harbor Michigan and he attended Benton Harbor Area Schools. Jessie was no stranger to hard work, he worked in various factories such as Modern Plastic as a press operator, Michigan Standard Alloys as a furnace operator and forklift operator, Benton Harbor Engineering assisting with shipping/receiving and stock room personal, Alreco Metals as a shredder and drier operator, all of Benton Harbor Michigan. United Fixtures as a roll form operator and group leader, Modineer as a roll form operator both of Niles Michigan. Hoffman Industries as a tube mill operator of Eau Claire Michigan. Jessie also was a handyman and enjoyed doing carpenter work and was very good at it. He was also handy at working on cars.
Jessie loved being around his family and friends in his spare time. He loved being social and talking with others. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time in his man cave relaxing, watching football, the Syfy channel, and the news.
Jessie was loved by everyone around him. Many looked up to Jessie, he was always a good role model. He didn’t mind sharing his knowledge and wisdom with others and found pleasure in giving them a helping hand.
Jessie leaves behind a loving wife Mary Whitfield of 20 years, one loving daughter Jessica Whitfield Napier of Benton Harbor Michigan, one son Elliot ( Ladonna ) Napier of Benton Harbor Michigan, one special granddaughter Timiya Mason of Benton Harbor Michigan, two grandsons Tewan Napier of Benton Harbor Michigan and Kamryn Johnson of Pontiac Michigan, and two great grandsons Kaysen Napier and Kendrixx Napier of Benton Harbor Michigan, two sisters Carolyn Booth and Rose Cooper both of Benton Harbor Michigan, three brothers James Cooper of Benton Harbor Michigan, Dennis Cooper of South Bend Indiana, and Jackie Cooper of Kansas City Missouri. A great friend who was more like a brother Alvin Walls of Muskegon Michigan. A host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins, great friends and co-workers. He also leaves behind a four legged fur baby named Kash.
Jessie was preceded in death by his mother Annie Mae Cooper, and father Robert Whitfield & James Cooper, Mother in law Opal Napier, Father in law John Newman Napier, one son Karim Napier, and brothers Robert Whitfield Jr, Willie Whitfield, Larry Cooper, LC Cooper, and Marvin Hoyle Sr., his nephew Mickey Booth and niece Tavena Cooper, & great niece Tiara Whitfield.
