Jessie Lee Allen, 83 of Benton Harbor departed this life October 13, 2024.
Precious in the sight of The Lord is the death of His saints.
Jessie was the oldest daughter of Dan Allen and Albertine Williams born September 10, 1941, in Lake village, AR.
Jessie was a great woman, mother, grandmother, and friend. She gave honor, praise, and glory to The Most High Power. Her faith was so great, she believed she could be healed, even at the time she was transitioning. And at that time, Jessie was able to focus on her family hoping for the best of everyone. Most of her family called her chief, she earned that title because of her works. Jessie was a pillar of her family and kept everyone on their toes.
A fisherman, gardener, hairdresser, and a great cook are examples of who she was. Jessie worked tirelessly for prisoners. She spent a great portion of her life gathering paperwork and sending it to them, filing paperwork, and spending time on the phone encouraging them, just to name a few of her great works upon this earth.
Her granddaughter, LaTanya was her caregiver and loved serving this great woman, who served her family the best way she could.
There is so much to her life however, there’s not enough room to express her greatness in this obituary.
Jessie leaves behind, her children, Pamela Winston, Gerry L. Winston Sr., Gregory J. Penn, Sharon Penn, Michael Penn, Beverly Penn, and Anthony Penn.; best friend, Claudette Delaney; a host of grandchildren; great Grands, nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
Jessie was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Brown; ex-husband, Henry Penn.
Jessie is greatly missed until we see each other again. We love you, Chief. Rest in The Most High. There is no more pain, and your tears are sealed in a bottle. Rest, we will see you again. We love you and miss you.
