Jerry Powell Obituary

Jerry Allen Powell was born on March 11, 1953, in Benton Harbor, Michigan to the late Rosie & Jodie Powell. He was the first child born to this union.

Jerry grew up in Benton Harbor where he attended Benton Harbor area schools, graduating from Benton Harbor High School in 1971. After high school Jerry worked at Bendix for many years.

He accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Benton Harbor Michigan. Jerry became a member of Pilgrim Rest Church where he sang in the choir and was a youth usher for many years. He was joined in holy matrimony in June of 1979 to Eileen Blanton. He loved listening to oldies but goodies (music) as well as watching old classics such as Gun Smoke and Bonanza. He transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Monday, April 17, 2023.

He leaves to cherish precious memories in the hearts of his two children Jerry Antonio Joseph (Dondee) of Columbus Ohio, Janielle A Powell of Odenton Maryland three grandchildren Mikal and Malika Clifton and Mylan Greene all of Columbus Ohio; sister Silvia Henry-Walton of Benton Harbor Michigan; brother Michael Byers (Debbie) of Benton Harbor Michigan and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents Rosie Powell and Jodie Powell and his maternal grandmother Annie Robinson.
