Jerome Eddie Sr. “Buster” Obituary

Jerome Eddie Sr. known as “Buster” was born on May 25,1949 in Benton Harbor, MI to the late Leon and Rometer Eddie. He confessed his love for Christ at an early age, He attended New Horizon Church, Benton Harbor, MI where he was an Elder in the church.

Jerome “Buster” Eddie was the fourth child out of nine children in which he had a close relationship with growing up. He Grew up in Benton Harbor, MI and graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1967. He met the Love of his life Peggy Ann Eddie and married in 1977 they blended their family together and raised their children. He was a loving husband and father and he always made sure that his family was taken care of.

His favorite scripture is Psalms 23 and his favorite saying is God Got Me!

He loved his family and was a provider, counselor and banker. If you needed him to save some money for you, he would hold it for dear life and not allow you to touch “your own money”.

He was employed by UPS for over 42 years before retiring in 2012. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and visiting St. Louis, Mo to spend time with family and friends. He also enjoyed watching Western movies, the black and white ones and if you decided to sit down to watch them with him, he could tell you about each and every one of them and all the characters. Watching movies with Buster would be the funniest thing because he always thought he could tell what would happen before it happened and if he seen the movie before you, you might as well just let him tell you about the movie because he was going to say, “Watch this” and tell you what would happen before it happened.

He loved his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. They had a special bond with him and they could call him for anything and everything and he would give in immediately. He was their “Hero”; the bond they shared with him was Amazing.

He also shared a special bond with his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews as well and shared plenty of secrets with him and he took those secrets with him to the end.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beautiful and loving wife Peggy Eddie; ten children Cheryl (Greg) Lloyd, James (Jackie) Golliday, Andre (Pam) Golliday, Jerome Jr. (Jennifer) Eddie, Maurice (Lisa) Golliday, Richard (Michelle) Eddie, Angelica Eddie, Shaneika Marshall, Che Eddie and Matthew Woods; God-son Anthony Hill; God-daughter, Alesia Carlock; (49) grandchildren; (28) great grandchildren; six siblings, Lawrence (Patty) Eddie, Clarence Eddie, Leallen Eddie, Ervin (Charlene) Eddie, Sharon (Greg) Burton and Warnell Eddie; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Williams and Tosca Redden; two brothers-in-law, Terrell Mayes and Andre White; two special aunts, Mary Russell and Pearliemay Nesbitt known as “Aunt Bee” and a host of nieces, nephews, close friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Rometer; two siblings Melvin Eddie and Norman Eddie; three sisters-in-law, Juanita Harvey, Erma Peterson and Adenia Eddie; one brother-in-law Willie Mays and granddaughter Teela Eddie.

He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and experienced his love. Let us not forget the gift we were given for 75 years, the laughs, the talks and the comforting, the presence of a true King.
