Jasper Lee Dorsey was born on December 24, 1946, to the union of Robert and Ruby Dorsey in Many, Louisiana. In 1950’s, his family relocated to Benton Harbor, Michigan, where he was raised and later graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1966. In the 1970’s, Jasper moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he worked for the Big Three automotive companies. He was known for his love of watching wrestling and working on cars. His friends affectionately called him “Jazz” around the neighborhood, where he would offer to drive them to appointments.
Jasper was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Daniel Dorsey, Ruby Louciel (Maxie) Dorsey and his son, Jasper L. Dorsey Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Marjorie (Sweet) Griffin and Robert E. Dorsey Jr. of Southfield, Mi; his children, Andre (Beverly) Evans Sr., Roshanda “Shelly” Evans, Latisha (Don) Wright from Columbus, Ohio. Tamara (Dimario) Dorsey-Moore, Tara, Tarita and Robin Fuqua from Detroit. His grandchildren, Andre Jr., Candice, Porsha, Patrick, Ryan, Alyssa, Jade Christopher, Trey, Asant’e, Miyara, Marcus, Adrian Milan, Albert Jr., Ariel, Avion, Ajanee, 22 great -grandchildren and others; along with a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
