James "JW" Wheeler Obituary

James Wheeler affectionately known as (J.W.) was born in Mayesville South Carolina to the union of James and Sarah Wheeler on June 9, 1954. James embraced Christ at an early age.  He was raised in faith and deeply practiced and believed in the tenants of the Christian journey, and enjoyed working in the church ,eagerly lending a helping hand when needed up to his passing.

James graduated from Maywood High School in 1972. He attended the DeVry Institute of Technolgy and completed his education as an Electronic Technician.  

James moved to Benton Harbor in 1979 to begin his career at Zenith Data Systems Corporation as an Electronic Technician. He later worked at Leco Corporation until his retirement in 2022. 

In his spare time he was a gym enthusiast and avid gardener. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, a quiet spirit who gently reminds us to trust and love each other. James loved watching sports, working, and spending time with friends and family. He was kind hearted, generous, and wanted the best for everyone, He will truly be missed, but never forgotten.

James leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Stephanie Hudson-Wheeler, his Children: Wanda (Ricky)Thomas, Anthony L. Moore; James Wheeler III, and Grandchildren: Anthony L. Moore II. Antavian Moore. Akilah L. Moore, Joiden A. Moore, Zobia N. Moore, Rihanna Thomas, Arrionna Thomas, Jay’Meon Lewis, Ja’Sean Lee, Ja’Marion Lee; Garlin Lewis, Kiera Drake, Ja’Bari Lee, Ja’Korie Hernandez, Ja’Mesha Lee, Avery Lannert Jayla Bradley, and Great Granddaughter Aaliyah N. Harris-Moore, his Siblings: Barbara A. Wheeler of Mayesville, S.C., Pensicola (James) Banks of Columbia S.C., Walter (Anita) Wheeler of Bluffton,S.C. Patricia (James) Slater of Sumter S.C. Dr. Deborah L. Wheeler of Mayesville,S.C., Deloris(Luther) Thomas of Columbia S.C., Virginia Wheeler of Mayesville,S.C., and adopted sister Betty(B. J.) Riley of Columbia S.C., and Longtime special Friend/Brother Donald Booker, Jerry Woods, and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Sarah Wheeler, his brother Robert Wheeler, his maternal grandparents Spencer Davis and Virginia Moses; paternal grandparents Walter Gamble and Pensacola Wheeler.
