James Porter was born on July 8th,1951 in Batesville Mississippi to the union of the late Will and Geanette Porter. James made his heavenly transition on June 6, 2024. He transitioned peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Our beloved James was a devoted husband, loving father, a caring brother and uncle to many. He truly loved his family and they loved and adored him. James had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to cracked jokes. He was a jack of all trades and a hard-working earnest man. James was kind to everyone and never spoke bad of anyone. If you had the pleasure of knowing James, you knew he was a happy man. He kept a smile on his face.
James was preceded in death by his parents Will and Geanette Porter, Seven sisters: Willie Mae Sykes, Annie Porter, Esther Mae Osby, Minnie Robinson, Luezine Ellis, Maebell Porter and Christine Ellis. Six Brothers: Willie Porter, Robert Lee Porter, Larry Porter, Ernest Porter, Wesilee and Lesilee Porter.
James leaves to cherish his memories and carry on his legacy, his loving and devoted wife Linda Porter of 50 years. Two Daughters: Darnette Adkinson and Marilynn Love of Benton Harbor, MI. Step Daughter: Tammie Williams of Atlanta, Ga., 2 God Daughters: Leticia Carouthers of Indianapolis, IN, Sharniqua London-Oliver (Robert) of South Bend, IN Six Grandchildren: Tanjela Williams, Trevonte Wynn, Taylor Boyd, Craig Tisdell (Tiara), Destiny Dixon and Jerniyah Atkins. 3 Great Grandchildren: Kameron Williams, Londyn Hassel and Yaszir Rockette. Siblings: Earlene and Geridine Porter of Benton Harbor, MI, Dorothy and Charlene Porter of Batesville Mississippi, Ivory Porter (Kathy) of Waterloo Iowa, Sister-in-Law, Birdie Lanier (Willie), Emma Jones, Mary Phillips, Nora Carr, and Lisa Cooper Woods (Thomas). Brother-in-law, Johnny Phillips, Robert Phillips (Virgina) and Billy Adkinson. A host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.
