James "Jimmy" Jones III

James “Jimmy” Jones III, 59 was a devoted loving husband and father born May 27, 1964, in Benton Harbor, MI to James & Lillian Jones Jr. Jimmy made a peaceful transition on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 4:20 pm at Corewell Health Hospital

Jimmy was a member of the Church of Our Lord where Rev. W Bennett was pastor, and where he was baptized and served on the usher board for many years. Jimmy attended Benton Harbor High School where he stood out as a baseball player. He led the team to championships as the pitcher. After graduation, he played baseball for Lake Michigan College.

Jimmy joined the United States Army (E-4) he served from 1984-1989 he was stationed in Fort Hood Texas and Korea. During his service, he earned the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Riffle Badge, Army lapel button, and Army Achievement Medal. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he began working at Bosch Manufacturing until his retirement in 2007.

Jimmy met and married Daisy Jones in 1998 and to their union, 1 daughter was born Dejah Jones.

You could often find Jimmy at the skating rink on Sunday evenings doing what no one else could do on skates, he was known for his cool easy glide on wheels. If you didn’t see him at the skating rink you certainly could find him at Blossom Lanes bowling alley throwing his wicked hook. He bowled on Wednesday Morning Mixed League and Saturdays with Jones & Co. Team. When he wasn’t at skating and bowling, he was on the softball field challenging pitchers to go against his lightning speed and runners against his slingshot arm. No matter where he was or what he was doing you could always catch him making jokes about something and talking about his family. Jimmy loved having fun he enjoyed life, in his past time he enjoyed watching movies, especially MARVELS, as he was a huge MARVEL comic fan, particularly BATMAN.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Jones, his grandmother Lula Steward, grandfather Otto Steward, and uncle Joseph Steward.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Daisy Jones of 25 years, his father James Jones Jr children daughters Dejah Jones, DeAndria Jones, sons James (LaToria) Jones IV, and Antonio Lee, sisters Cecilia Jones, Alicia Jones, and Deshone (Ennis) Michael. Two uncles, George (JoAnne) Dixon, Tillies Jones. Aunt Shirley Jones, 10 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
