James Lee Brown was born on March 13, 1965, to the union of Robert and Iris Melvin in Exmore, VA he departed this life on March 22, 2021, at home surrounded by family.

He loved his family, and he also loved to dance and play his music. His favorite song was

He leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Jamie Lee Willis, Jermain Brown, and Dontrell Brown all of Detroit, MI, his mother Iris Melvin of Lansing MI, a special niece Jasmine Atterberry, of Lansing MI, and his longtime friend Bobbie Bennett of Benton Harbor MI.10 grandchildren all of Detroit Michigan.
Siblings five brothers Robert Brown from Gatlin AL, Eugene Brown of Benton Harbor, Alphonso Brown from Tampa Fl., William Melvin from Kalamazoo Michigan, Mark Melvin from Tavares Fl., four sisters, Rosa Lee McKay of Lansing Michigan, Audrey Melvin of North Charleston SC, Lisa Melvin of Lansing MI, and Jennette Brown of Norfolk VA.
He is also survived by two uncles Joe Brown of West Palm Beach Fl, and Melvin Brown of Norfolk VA. his wife Berta Brown of Lansing, MI.
A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He loves all his nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert Lee Melvin in April of 1990 and his niece Irene McKay in April of 2016.
