With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Jameel Jabbaar, who entered eternal rest on March 11, 2026, at the age of 74.
Born on February 4, 1952, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Jameel Jabbaar was the son of Nicualar Johnson and Archie Johnson. He lived a life rooted in faith, strength, and dignity, and he leaves behind a legacy of wisdom and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Jameel was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a man whose character was marked by kindness, resilience, and faith. He carried himself with purpose and touched many lives through his words, his presence, and the example he set.
One of Jameel’s greatest joys was found in the kitchen. He had a special passion for baking pies and decorating cakes, and what began as a gift eventually blossomed into a business, yours and Mine”Through his hands, he created not only beautiful desserts, but also moments of comfort, celebration, and togetherness for those around him. His talent, creativity, and care were evident in all that he made.
In his early years, Jameel also devoted his spare time to serving his community by leading local meetings for the Nation of Islam. He was a man of conviction who valued discipline, knowledge, and upliftment. He believed in sharing wisdom and encouraging others, and his voice carried both meaning and strength.
To know Jameel was to know laughter, insight, and warmth. His presence brought joy to a room, and his words often carried the kind of wisdom that stayed with you long after the conversation ended. He had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and welcomed, and that gift will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jabbaar, his children, Sylvester Johnson, Rashekia Johnson, Jerail Thomas, and Marcie Thomas; his stepchildren, Michelle Piggee, Sebastian Childs, and Maurice Childs; his 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild , his living brother, Harry Johnson; along with extended family and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rashed Johnson, his mother Nicualar, his father Archie Johnson, his brothers Nathanial Johnson, Tommy King, Alvin Dyson, Anthony Johnson (Bear)and one sister Geneva Johnson Beck
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we also give thanks for the life of Jameel Jabbaar — for his strength, his laughter, his faith, and the many memories he leaves behind. His legacy will continue to live on through his family and through the lessons he shared.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever treasured. May he rest in Power.
