Herman Pollard Jr. Obituary

Herman Roy Pollard Jr. was born June 5, 1941, in Benton Harbor, MI.  He was the first of three children born to Herman Roy Pollard Sr. and Nannie LaVerne (Love) Pollard.

Herman R. Pollard Jr. graduated from Benton Harbor High, attended Lake Michigan College, and proudly served on the Benton Harbor City Police force.   He married his high school sweetheart Judith (Wysinger) Pollard with whom he had three children. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball and was a member of the Union Memorial AME church where he later confessed his faith in Christ.  Herman enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and doing what he could to help them.  His lifelong hobbies included: fishing, CB Radio, going to garage sales, collecting odds and ends, solving crossword puzzles, and playing chess. He liked to be addressed as “Mr. Pollard”.

On August 23, 2020, after a short illness, Herman Roy Pollard Jr., departed this life here on earth.  He was preceded in death by both parents: Herman Roy and Nannie LaVerne Pollard Sr., and his brother Wayne E. Pollard Sr.

He leaves to cherish and rejoice in his memory: partner, companion, and friend for 32+ years Janet Tates; former wife Judith E (Wysinger) Pollard and their three children: Penny Killebrew-Pollard of St. Joseph MI, Rhonda (Lawrence) Jackson of St. Joseph MI, and Herman Roy (Shana) Pollard III of St. Joseph Charter Township, MI; a daughter Eunice Bryant of Kalamazoo MI; son Rodney Polk of Minneapolis MN; a daughter who requested not to be mentioned; 27 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren; 1 brother: Michael (Diane) Pollard of Dayton OH and a host of aunts uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
