Helen Hill Obituary

Helen Dolores Hill was born on September 21, 1936, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the beloved daughter of Andrew and Helen Jones, both of whom preceded her in death. She carried their legacy of love, strength, and compassion throughout her life — embodying their nurturing guidance and giving heart in all she did.

It was in East St. Louis where she met the love of her life, Milton Hill. Together, they built a life grounded in devotion and family. In 1968, they made their home in Benton Harbor, Michigan, where Helen would spend the remainder of her days — a cornerstone of love, stability, and quiet strength in the lives of all who knew her.

In 2018, Helen joyfully gave her heart to Christ, embracing her faith with a renewed spirit. Becoming a child of our Lord and Savior brought her peace, grace, and a deeper sense of hope — a transformation she welcomed with open arms and a faithful heart.

She was the cherished mother of Veronica (Tony) Murphy, Tia Hill, Otis (Toni) Hill, Betty Hill, Milton Hill, Janet Jones, and Ruth Jones. In each of them, she instilled resilience, grace, and kindness — her love guiding them like a light that will never dim.

Helen’s memory continues to live on through her surviving children, and her dear siblings: Andrew Jones, Albert, Willie Wright, Betty Lovelace, and Louise Samuel Combs. Their lives remain forever intertwined with Helen’s — each story and shared moment echoing her enduring love and companionship.

She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were blessed to be part of her journey.

Though the family tree has lost precious branches with the passing of her beloved husband Milton Hill, son, Timothy Hill, siblings Elizabeth Jones, Ruth Jones, Myrna Moore, and James Jones, granddaughter, Latisha Hill, and great-grandson Knowledge Hoard; Helen’s legacy remains rooted deep in love.

Her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who survive her — growing with each act of kindness and each moment of grace.

Helen’s life was a beautiful example of love in action. She opened her home and heart to all, offering comfort, wisdom, and warmth to anyone in need. Her quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication will forever be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her presence.
