Gregory Allen Johnson Sr.

Gregory Johnson of Maywood, IL passed away February 06, 22024. He was born October 03, 1966, in Benton Harbor, MI to Mary Ruth Johnson and Otis Farrow. Gregory moved to Chicago, IL in 1976 until 1980. Then he moved to Maywood, IL where he graduated from Proviso East High School in 1985. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Hattie Johnson in 1999. Gregory enjoyed Playing basketball, playing cards, and helping family and friends. He was a special family member to the Johnson family, having a great heart like his mom. Gregory better known as “Jewtown” or “Pete” planted good seeds in our lives. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly.  On March 20, 2023, Gregory resumed attending church every Sunday so he could gain a closer relationship with God. His last days before God called him home was spent with his younger sibling, Marvin Johnson, his son, Gregory Johnson Jr., and with his special friend.

          Gregory leaves to cherish his loving memory his daughters, Bryana Johnson, Hazelhurst, MS, and Keyona Catchings, Benton Harbor, MI; sons, Gregory Johnson Jr., Bellwood, Il, and Aron Johnson, Broadview, Il; sisters, Reshonda Johnson, Niles, MI and Lawanna (Mark) Wortham, Niles, MI; brothers, Eddie (Janice) Hardin, Broadview, IL, Marvin Johnson, Benton Harbor, MI and Otha Farrow, Niles, MI; a host of half-brothers and half-sisters, stepchildren and step-grandchildren; special friend, Jennifer Carvatta; special cousin, Martessa (Chad) Woods.

          Gregory was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hattie Johnson; mother, Mary Ruth Johnson; father, Otis Farrow; child, Montae Trevelle Dennis; grandmother, Hattie Mae Williams; sister, Yulonda “Poolou” Johnson; nephew, Marvin Johnson, Jr.; special friend, Cynthia Powell.
